The world of MMA took a breather during over the holiday weekend, but MMAjunkie.com readers didn't let the Fourth of July slow down their contributions.
With the the historic UFC 100 event now less than a week away, the sport's premier organization took center stage in this week's edition of "The Sunday Junkie."
Our weekly reader-feedback feature discussed the importance of remembering the history of the sport, as well as some suggestions for the direction of both MMA and the UFC. But this week's winner, Josh Hall, wonders not solely about the direction of the UFC, but how its athletes will be treated in the eyes of mainstream media.

Brazilian submission ace and 12-time PRIDE veteran Ricardo Arono (13-5)
is scheduled to fight for the first time in almost two-and-a-half years
according to a new report from the Portuguese-language website
SuperLutas.com.
According to the report, Arona will face five-time UFC veteran Marvin
Eastman on Sept. 12 at Bitetti Combat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
WEC and PFC veteran Glover Teixeira (6-2), as will as Brazilian
submission artists Luciano Azevedo (15-7) and Milton Vieira (9-6-1) will also
appear on the card.

With power comes responsibility, and the UFC understands that better than anyone.
While the UFC is clearly the sport's largest - and most profitable -
organization, much of the growth in regulation and acceptance of the
sport of mixed martial arts is thanks to the Las Vegas-based promotion.
With nationwide regulation nearing completion, UFC exec Marc Ratner
recently told the MMAjunkie.com Radio Network
that increasing the quality of officiating was one of his next big projects.

One of the things that marks mixed martial arts fighters is the respect
they almost always show for each other and for the sport. They
frequently thank their opponents for taking the fight and often express
that they feel it is an honor to meet a particular fighter.
But every now and then, in a combat sport, feelings get heated and it
leads to feuds. The UFC has had a series of
memorable feuds which the men settled in the cage.
In the first segment of Yahoo! Sports' week-long look back at the UFC's greatest moments, the Yahoo! Sports MMA staff compiles a record of the organization's most heated rivalries.

With rumored opponent Eddie Alvarez (18-2) making it clear a DREAM
appearance wasn't in his immediate plans, American Top Team's Gesias
"JZ" Cavalacante (14-3-1) said he's still in for the as-yet-unannounced
DREAM.11 event.
Cavalcante recently told Tatame.com that he still plans on fighting at the event, which is expected to take place in September.
"They offered me Eddie Alvarez and I was excited, but it seems that
he's injured or had some other problem and won't be able to fight in
the event," Cavalcante told Tatame.com. "I'm confirmed in DREAM.11, but
I still have no opponent."
