Here are my thoughts on the fights
Javier Vazquez vs. Joe Stevenson. Javi was my roommate years ago and I know how good he is. I was surprised Joe could make 145lbs because Ive heard how much he cuts to make 155 and I thought the cut would hurt him. I have no idea if it was the weight cut or not, but Joe looked sluggish. Not sure where that puts him, but I had a feeling that either Joe or Javi would get cut if they lost this fight. We will see what happens.
Charles Oliveira vs Nik Lentz. Good scrap, but horrible officiating. The knee was beyond illegal and the ref should be suspended for not acting on it. I thought Oliveira was was winning the fight before that, but there is no knowing how it would have ended.
Tyson Griffin vs Manny Gamburyan. I am not a fan of Tyson as a person or a fighter, but that does not take away from his ability. Ive trained with Manny at SK Golden Boys wrestling club and that guy has no quit in him. I was hoping Manny would pull of the win. Sadly, he did not and tyson did. I felt Manny should have won 29-28 with the takedowns in rd 3, but Im not going to lie and say Im not biased! LOL
Matt Mitrione vs Christian Morecraft. Mitrione is ever improving but he seems to not fight the upper end fighters in the heavyweight division. I want to see how he does against better competition. Still, a solid performance
Charlie Brenneman vs Rick Story. I kind of like when a wrestler fights another wrestler and gets taken out with what he uses to win fights. Brenneman stepped in with a couple of days notice and handled it.
Cheick Kongo Vs Pat Barry. MMA. This is what makes the sport great. On any given night, either guy can win. I was split on this fight from the get go, thinking that either of these guys could(and did) win. Barry seemed to have it in the bag, but Kongo didnt seem to want it that way. Amazing come from behind victory
On a another Not the Marqardt thing seems to be on everyone's lips.I'm sure some people know, but I am sure it will not be a 100% released. What ever DID happen, it must be bad. Apparently Dana didn't just fire him but said he would NEVER fight in the UFC again. Damn,it must have been bad.
