I arrived at the palace weighing 166lbs on wed. I had 10 pounds to cut and was for the most part I was feeling good. My stomach was in knots though. Not from anxiety, but from Potassium poisoning! Tuesday night I stupidly decided to over saturate my body with a potassium supplement. Cutting water weight depletes your body of Potassium and I thought by taking a large dose it would offset the suffering of the cut. Now, I usually dont deviate from my usual routine, but I took a gamble and paid for it.

I checked my weight when I got to the hotel and relaxed before meeting up with my friend Mo Lowal and Erin Toughill who also had to cut. We started by getting in the sauna and getting the sweat going. I started sweating immediatly and only stayed in the sauna for 15 minutes. Directly from there, we went to the gym and decided to go between treadmill, eliptical and stationary bike. We would switch out every2-3min and although we werent going hard, we were constantly in motion. One hour and I was done(I felt bad for Erin because she had a lot more weight than I had to cut and had to stay on it). I was weighing 160lbs and feeling ok, besides my stomach.

Woke up the day of the weigh ins at 159lbs and relaxed until noon. At that point, it was back to the sauna. I spent 15minutes again in the sauna, back to the gym and switching between cardio machines again. This time how ever, I would go back in the sauna every 10min for 3-5min. It takes me 1 hour, but I step on the scale on weight.

Weigh ins are supposed to start at 3, but I dont end up on the scale til 5, but I weighed in at 155.2. Started rehydrating immediatly and was back to 165lbs in a little over an hour.

Fight day. I felt great and ready to go. My stomach was still bothering me a little bit, but not enough to effect me. I warmed up and felt ready. As we were being staged, I saw Darren change up from south paw stance to normal and it threw me off(good job on that Darren!). I initially was planning on standing and feeling him out, but that game plan changed once I saw him change his stance. I had been preparing for a south paw and when he changed his stance I changed my game plan. I shot in and ended up in the clinch. He tried for a thai pummel and switched to a single leg takedown. I took him down and ended up in side control. I felt very comfortable and went around his head with my right arm. I transitioned directly into the mount. I was planning on dropping strikes, but once I ended up in the mount, I knew the choke was set. with little opposition, he tapped. with 1min and 3 seconds elapsing, the fight was over.

Not too bad for a days work ;) I should have the video up on this site this week. Im back to the gym today and back in the battle June 7

damn damn damn, nice work my friend. Sounds like the best way for a fight to go, quick and easy! :-)
