Every sport has them(and even games like golf). It happens when you push your body harder and longer than it can handle. Sometimes, its just an accident or a mistake. I have heard this quote from multiple people. "If your going into a fight NOT injured, you didnt train hard enough". Well, I must have trained hard enough for my last fight.
Im not going to say what my injury is but 2 weeks BEFORE my last fight I acquired the injury I am currently dealing with.
Now, I had the option of pulling out of my title fight and letting my injury rest(in retrospect, what I should have done), but I had already trained too hard and came too close. I had to just push through and get the fight done. Besides, my manager and coaches/training partners, I didnt tell anyone about it. When asked in an interview how I was feeling? "Great, best ever". Same question asked by a fan? Same response. I was not about to give my opponent confidence or realize that I was a wounded animal and give him something to capitalize on. I also realized when it was time to fight, I would go, put everything aside and fight with everything I had. Im thankful that the fight was over in the first round, because I dont know how much worse I would have injured myself or even if my body would have held up.
Immediately after exiting the cage and cooling down, my body decided it was REALLY done. I have been unable to workout or do any serious physical activity since my fight. Im at a point well past frustration. I do everything I can to assist in the healing of this injury and hope that it will heal quickly and that I can get back to training. The worst is to go into a fight, come out unscathed from the actual fight, but still not be able to get back to training.
I have had multiple small injuries since my neck surgery in 2008, but nothing that I couldnt work around and now this.
